The god's desire
“The class is finished for today,” said the master; “You all can carry on with your respective tasks.”
This is a Gurukul, a place where children belonging to all communities and religions are educated without any discrimination at all. Here the day begins early in the morning. The pupils go for bath in the river, wash their clothes and come back. Then the class starts off with a prayer and it goes on till noon. They are taught different subjects such as Vedas, Upanishads, Mathematics, Politics, Science etc.. Then they have their food and carry on with the tasks allotted to all of them.
A group of pupils are allotted with a particular task such as gardening, taking care of the cattle, cleaning of the school etc. In the evening they return from their work, take baths, discuss their experiences and clarify their doubts from the masters and then go to sleep.
Satya was one of the pupils, who was lazy. He was given the task of taking the cattle for grazing to the fields. He used to take the cattle to the fields, leave them for grazing and went to sleep.
This went on for few days and one day he found one of the cows was missing; may be it was stolen or taken away by wild animals. He did not inform this to the master. This went unnoticed for few days.
But one day master found it. On the next day in the class “Satya, I found a cow was missing; how did it happened?” asked master. “I am unaware of this master” replied Satya. “This happened,” said master “due to your carelessness and you are responsible for this.” “Nothing is there in our hands master,” said Satya “this is God’s desire and I am not in any way responsible for this.”
Listening this master did not speak any thing else about this and continued his class.
Few days passed and Satya was given the task of gardening. This time he worked very hard and grew different varieties of plants. He brought different and a very rare flowering plants from the forest and grew them in the garden. He also grew a variety of vegetables and fruits. The garden looked very beautiful. Other pupils were astonished seeing the garden.
One fine day master visited the garden. Satya was working at that time. He came near him and asked “Master, how is the garden.” “It is looking rich and very beautiful.” said master. “I worked very hard to make the garden look so, Master.” said he. “Nothing is in our hands,” Master said “Satya, its God’s desire to make the garden look beautiful and fulfilled his desire.”
